Fiber Optic Technology
Compared to older methods of data transmission such as copper, Fiber Optic Cabling provides a far superior transmission of data due to a couple key components.
- High Bandwidth:
- Thus far there is no other type of data transmission that can come close to the shear amount of data fiber optic cable is capable of transmitting.
- Easy to Update:
- Over time as technology progresses, fiber optic cabling doesn’t need to be ripped out and replaced and works just as well with new technology as it does the old. With minor modifications, the level of data moving through existing cables can easily be drastically increased.
- Easy to Diagnose:
- With an electron based medium diagnosing a break in the line can be a very difficult process. With fiber cabling it is remarkably easy to determine where a break has occurred, by closely monitoring the time it takes for data to travel between two different points.
